HOW WE STARTED

In 2018, my mom and I stumbled upon an artist on YouTube "pouring" paint on a canvas and making incredibly cool creations with blowdryers and paper cups and torches and spatulas, creating interesting designs and things called "cells" with various other tools and set ups that mostly included dog pads or plastic table cloths.

We were immediately addicted, and the paint was pouring, and pouring, and pouring... The problem was, I was AWFUL at it! (still am) And boy did I waste some paint! Which was not great because it wasn't good for the environment, it was expensive, and it was messy!

I had to wonder if there wasn't a better way - how could I recover some of the paint I scraped off canvases and re-use that paint (even if it was all an odd flesh color) and keep honing my craft without so much waste.

"If only I had a silicone mat big enough to put under my canvas and collect the paint..." I thought. The big cardboard box I was using was awkward and not conducive to recycling of any kind.

So I set out on a journey to find an oversized silicone craft mat. It wasn't easy - because there weren't any! I found a partner and had a small quantity manufactured specifically for my personal use.

Having grown up in the advertising industry, I decided I needed a logo for these mats (why? why not!). Even if I was only ordering 50 which was the minimum for this oem adventure. LOLIVEFE was soon born. Or, perhaps more accurately, born again (see below for the story behind the name).

So with 50 mats at the ready, I tested the concept and the rest, as they say, is history. I sent samples to my favorite YouTubers to see if they also thought the mats were helpful, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Sustainable, easy to clean, and more cost effective than going through various other supplies. A business was born.

Being a natural problem solver, I spend time every week painting and pouring, studying various artists, and testing and innovating various tools and techniques to bring new products to the store. All with the sincere desire to make your lives easier and your experience with painting and resins more satisfying.

We are so grateful to be part of this incredible community. I have personally enjoyed interacting with all of you, more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

First, let's get this out of the way... it's pronounced Low-lee Vehf-ee. Again... Low-lee Vehf-ee. What an odd name! Isn't it really, Love Life? Where did it come from???

OK, let's start at the beginning... over 20 years ago, my husband and I got into printing custom T-shirts when these fancy printer paper transfers became available for your standard home-office printer. We obviously had too much time on our hands because we made A LOT of T-shirts at that time. Yes, pre-kids.

One day I made a T-shirt with a transfer that said, Love Life. As a positive person, I loved the notion of "loving life" and thought that would be a cool thing to put on a shirt. I stacked the words, just like the current logo, and despite the color variation in LOVE versus LIFE, my husband would taunt me when I wore the shirt by saying repeatedly, "Low-lee Vehf-ee, Low-lee Vehf-ee." So annoying! But it stuck.

Somehow, that shirt traveled with me over the years, and my teenage daughter found it in a drawer and started to wear it. She had it on the same day I was pondering the right branding for these 50 oversized silicone craft mats I was ordering, and the lightbulb went off -- Love Life! What a cool sentiment to think about when doing something as relaxing and enjoyable as art! But I knew I could never "own" Love Life as a company or product name. However, not surprisingly, LOLIVEFE was available! :)

I created the logo, put it on the mat, and we were off to the races. Only it took about 6 months before we got our first order. THEN, it was truly off to the races.

And for anyone still reading, neither my mom, nor my daughter, can pronounce the name. To me, it was so simple and straight forward I never anticipated anyone being confused by it. But in hindsight, it's definitely a tough one.

So that's our story. We're here for as long as you'll have us. Thank you, again.
